Cover Boy

According to standard social norms, girls wear make up and boys don't. Everyday more and more males are beginning to wear make up, cross dress, and do many other things that are out of the social norm.

The Internet is full of of makeup tutorials, there are thousands of make-up ads, and they all have one thing in common; females. Makeup tutorials made by girls for girls and tv commercials for makeup are all with female models. But not anymore. Everyday, there are more males buying makeup, wearing makeup, and creating makeup tutorials. We can thank social media for this.

James Charles is one of the first of many males to promote makeup on social media. With over 70,000 youtube subscribers and over 1.5 million followers on instagram its no wonder Cover Girl wanted him on their campaign.

James Charle's isn't the only male make up artist, but he was the first to get noticed and help change society's look on females and males wearing makeup. I think it's extremely important that these social norms continue to change. Makeup is a type of art, there are so many things you can do with makeup and a persons face. So who gets to say that makeup is only for girls?
